Why Ash's Ace Team vs Leon Does NOT Work

  I always thought Ash should&apos;ve rotated ALL of his Pokemon throughout not just the Masters 8 but the entire PWC as a whole! It would&apos;ve been so cool to see his old Pokemon new captures train, battle and grow together (with maybe even a few evolutions along the way for his older Pokemon). Maybe we could&apos;ve seen some of his old team members using Z-moves, having a Gigantamax form or even more than just a Mega Lucario.<br><br>Journeys was a MESS of a series and IMO it isn&apos;t just about Ash ONLY using his Journeys team in the Masters 8 or just against Leon specifically; it&apos;s that unlike say Hoenn or Kalos, we really didn&apos;t see the Journeys team act like an actual TEAM until the very end of the series right before the Masters 8 started. It was the &apos;Paul return&apos; episode where they train together and then with Ash&apos;s Pokemon at Oak&apos;s lab.<br><br>Had we gotten more team focused episodes instead of random filler then it would&apos;ve made more sense for things to have gone down the way they did.

  it&apos;s not just about Ash vs Leon, but Ash vs the master 8. Were forgetting this a tournament, not a single battle<br><br>also, we have seen series bring back older pokemon to use, so it&apos;s not impossible for him to do. <br><br>also also, this is meant to be the final showdown, the last battle of the character, shouldn&apos;t that be a celebration of the character and his history by bringing back the characters we know and love<br><br>Also, when looking at as a tournement instead of just Ash vs Leon, you get some cool matchups with history, like the Charizard vs Greninja rematch with Alain, or Cynthia Garchomp for Infernape that they hyped up but never followed through on. There is SO MUCH you could do here, which would be so hype for fans. <br><br>But no, were stuck with frickin Dracovish, and expected believe they can somehow compete with veterans with only a few months of experience vs years, which makes no sense, and is frankly an insult to the champions. <br><br>I can see your problem with the new pokemon not getting the spotlight they deserve though, which is why I pass around the idea of team rotations. The six pokemon he uses to fight one champion doesn&apos;t need to be the same as the next, he can rotate out different pokemon to counter the specific pokemon his opponent has. That way, a lot more pokemon are represented in some way, including the new team members. <br><br>It&apos;s not only the end of the season, but the end of 25 seasons, I expect it to live up to that, and so do many fans.

  I think it would be cool to see some old Pokémon return across the whole Journeys series like how it was during the battle frontier. But i agree that doing a all aces team during the battle against Leon would undermine the Journeys team growth

  Mimey, Primeape, Butterfree, Mega Pidgeot and GMAX Lapras would be a much more fitting team to help Ash and Pikachu. He got the Alola title, so now it&apos;s time to truly rep his home region of Kanto.

  Your first poimt doesn&apos;t make sense bc the Journeys team didn&apos;t get enough screentime and development to justify the strength and crazy wins they got. Love the video though.

  If the fans want a ace team, instead of vs Leon, Pokemon Company could just make a short film/ series of Ash vs Tobias rematch, nothing more than pure action and excitement which doesn&apos;t add much but doesn&apos;t take away anything either. <br>Also just to point out most of his aces are already champion level tbh. Greninja in base is superior to Lucario. Charizard has superiority to Legendary Birds. Infernape can clash with zard and moltres. Sceptile beating a trained Darkrai. And Lycanroc doing well against a holding back Tapu Bulu.

  One example you didn&apos;t bring is the Johto League when Ash did this exact thing. The Silver Conference was nice, but Ash&apos;s Johto Pokemon were completely overshadowed by the Indigo team. People rarely talk about Ash&apos;s Johto team. Sure, Heracross might get a mention or two, but nobody ever really considers it part of Ash&apos;s ace team with Charizard or Greninja. Also, I know nobody wants to hear it, but the fact is Ash&apos;s other aces lost their leagues while the Journeys team didn&apos;t 😂 The only exceptions are Infernape and Ash&apos;s Alola team

  I think they could&apos;ve done similarly to what they did in the sinnoh leauge, where ash decides to bring back his old pokemon for the masters 8. This would give him a way to counter specific pokemon of each champion. And just like the Paul fight, he&apos;d use his journeys team exclusively for the Leon fight since that&apos;s the team Leon is most familiar with ash using in the WCS ( I think? I don&apos;t know). What do you think of this idea? Feel free to disagree with me or point out potential problems with this! I&apos;m always open! 👍

  Well, that’s why no trainer in the anime ever uses an all ace team. Not only Ash, you don’t see Paul or gary using his all ace team either.<br>They should had ash face different trainer with his old pokemon and then have only the last battle being the 6 new ones against Leon (just like in Sinnoh vs Paul). And everyone would have been happy.
