  Please do not take this video as a blueprint on how to build a spindle. It just shows my way of building my spindles as a hobbyist.<br>Building a simple spindle is not rocket science but it is a bit tricky. So there are a few things to consider when building a spindle, especially when spindle bearings are used. &nbsp;However, going into these basics in more detail would have gone beyond the scope of this video.<br><br>In the video description I have linked a document about the basics of precision bearings for you. If you want to know more about this topic, I highly recommend reading this application note.

  I am building my own CNC machine and have had the idea of using an ER Collet Chuck as a shaft and you are the first person I have been able to find that has posted a video of successfully doing it! Thank you so much for making this video and inspiring me to follow through with the idea!

  for the last year or so i just thought of using trailer wheel hubs to make a lathe spindle, with one big enough it could later have the axle shaft bored. &nbsp;getting bearings that would fit the odd sizes might be fun but regular trailer bearings could be used for basic stuff.
