Something else to consider is correlation vs causation. Just because two things are correlated (happen at the same time) doesn't mean one necessarily caused the other. As an example, it's been commonly said that a glass of red wine with dinner can have benefits for your health. But! More recent studies have shown that this may not actually be the case. Instead, those people who have enough financial resources to regularly purchase red wine can also afford regular preventative healthcare. Sauna use may be a similar phenomenon. Those who can afford to go to a sauna regularly or build their own may also have more disposable income to spend on healthcare, healthier foods and fitness.

I consider myself someone with a lot of stress and anxiety and sauna is something that gives me peace. Since I've built one into my apartman my overall mood and sleep quailty has drastically improved. I too often find myself trying to convert people into sauna use like its a cult haha

They really skimmed through the most important point. Heat and cold stress increase the number of mitochondria in cells. Cells with more mitochondria have extra energy for conducting repair and clean up of cells.

Fun fact: Finland has a saying “Jos sauna, viina ja terva ei auta niin tauti on kuolemaksi” or in English: “If sauna, spirits and wood tar won’t help then the disease is fatal.”

Here in Mexico ancient aztecs did their own version: Temazcal. It is done on a clay dome, where rocks heated over a roaring flame are brought to the point of emitting light. Then, water is poured on top to make steam and fill the room. Sometimes, the floor of the temazcal is carpeted in aromatic herbs. Absolutely recommended.

When I step into the sauna, it's as if every pore in my skin is alive, and with every bead of sweat, I'm purging something deeper.
The heat is almost sacred
it forces out every toxin, every burden. I feel like my essence is transforming, becoming pure, fluid, and untethered
like water itself, unstoppable and alive.
I love you session tomorrow we will do more ❤️

The big difference in experience I find between cold bath/sauna is that cold starts horrible and ends tolerable but hot is the opposite. Probably why I’m always much more keen to do saunas!

Surprised that no one has brought up that culturally in Finnish sauna you do not read the newspaper like at 0:37. I very rarely make comments in YT, but this had to be corrected.

The interplay between thermal stress and cardiovascular resilience makes me wonder if saunas are less a luxury and more an underestimated longevity tool.😙
