I respect you for dissecting the logic within the anime world itself and not calling it out for not following the "card game rules"

I will say, I do love how AMAZED everyone is at the most basic plays at the start of a match while barely flinching at some of the actual good moves.

Like when Joey summons Black Skull Dragon for the first time, everyone is mildly impressed. "Wow, look at that"

But Pegasus sets a card face down first turn of the duel and everyone is freaking out. "Oh my god he knows everything! Im gonna lose!!!"

"There's no way something this elaborate can be built"
Then again it is Seto Kaiba dude spent millions on a space program in hopes there's aliens he can teach how to play card games

1:39:35 I never caught this until now, but NitPik you're actually wrong on this 1. Kaiba's last line is literally, "I'm going to the castle to save my brother, not to duel in a tournament **TO WIN SOME PRIZE**." Key word being prize. This directly implies Kaiba does think he's the only one with a noble cause. But then again, he doesn't know about Grandpa Muto or Serenity, so it makes sense he would think that way.

1:51:03 In the manga, Kaiba theorized Pegasus had to look directly at someone to read their mind, after witnessing Pegasus' duel with Bandit Keith. The holograms of the players' hands were meant to obstruct Pegasus' view of Kaiba, hindering Pegasus' mind reading and giving Kaiba an edge.

47:35 Yugi wagered all his remaining star chips, so if he loses the duel, he'll lose this grandpa, and he'll be eliminated and unable to rescue him
