  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RbKyuEvm_M&amp;t=410">6:50</a> I am dealing with this exact situation right now. No eggs for 5 weeks and the queen is walking around fine. Adding open brood frames, they dont superseed her they remove the eggs and canabalize the larva. I hate having to pinch and replace a queen, but it is the only proper action in certain situations that I think are more common than the books say.

  Keeping bees indoors in a small beehive depends a lot on keeping them warm or cool enough. You can look at reptile keepers videos about keeping cold blooded animals warm. If you place the heat source underneath and the hive is small and the heat source gets too hot you can toast your bees. Even reptiles can be burned if a heat source placed below gets too hot. From the side is maybe better. It depends.

  After harvesting honey, you’re left with a surplus of bees — turning them into productive splits with your mated queens is one of the best ways to turn a harvest into new colonies. You’re avoiding waste, increasing stock, and improving genetics all in one go. What is your take on this?

  The golderod thing is strange...it&apos;s in full bloom here in western NY, bees are bringing in tons of pollen...but while I see lots of bumblebees, wasps and little native bees on the goldenrod, very few honeybees. My hives are light on stored honey...but full of brood and pollen. So I&apos;m feeding.

  This year early on I had a very strong queen who was laying extremely well. She was from the last summer, still young. During an inspection I saw several loaded queen cups. I destroyed them all because I didn’t want her to swarm. The hive continued to thrive and everything was looking great. Lots of amazing honey and a strong colony. Double brood boxes were loaded with brood. A few weeks later I took about 60lbs of honey from them and checked on the queen again. She was nowhere, no eggs, but there were several queen cells. They didn’t swarm. New queen emerged and started laying, but there were hardly many eggs. Next inspection, she was gone too and there were a few queen cells again. Another queen emerged and never made it back. So it’s been now over 30 days since any significant brood and the colony dropped in population. I managed to requeen with a virgin queen I stole from another colony where I found two queens. The colony bounced back some but it’s still recovering. Beekeeping is fun….

  I&apos;ve seen a large amount of people in my area since covid getting into beekeeping, I have had a lot of repeat customers over the past 4 years buying packages and nucs in the spring because they lost their bee&apos;s. I call them &quot; serial bee murderers 😅&quot; this Spring I told those hand full of individuals I would no longer be selling them bee&apos;s until they go to bee school. I didn&apos;t do this to be a jerk, but so they get more education and help - care for their bee&apos;s better.
