Ajin: Alright so what if Immortality is literally just a respawn button and we give it to a psychopathic War Veteran that abuses the shit out of it?

I see frieren as a positive depiction of immortality.

Yes, it means you will outlive everyone you know and love but that doesn’t mean life will lose its value because of it.
You can still honor the memories of the departed, while still making new memories of the friends you will make tomorrow.

2:44 Subaru's vocal cords don't freeze. That spectral hand the anime shows viewers latches onto his heart and squeezes. For a while he does stop right then, as it feels like it could kill him in a not-so-nice way. Heart attack victims reportedly feel an unbearable dread in addition to the crushing pain, even first time sufferers that don't know what's happening, so I imagine that's what Subaru feels too. But when he does manage to push through and blurt out his ability to Emilia, the hand lets him go, only to immediately crush Emilia's heart to a pulp. Speaking of it has consequences, ones that don't limit themselves to him.

What I love about Re:Zero is that instead of getting a shounen powerup, Subaru has to rely on others even his extremely stubborn self has a limit, and others pick him up t
That goes for everyone in the story too, you can't do it alone, and I love that message, especially from an Isekai, the author saw the trend of Isekai and saw all the bad selfish messaging and made a masterpiece

There's a wonderful HP Fanfic where Nicholas Flamel describes his immortality like this:

"Have you ever killed an hour? I imagine everyone has by age 6.

Have you ever killed a day? Most of us have had a day like that, where we're just waiting for tomorrow.

What about a month?

What about a year?

That's all immortality becomes. You kill the hour, the day, the month, the year, the decade. All that time killed, but there is no evidence of a crime. The only clue is the shadows under your eyes, indicating that you've lost something too empty to share."

I love Sato in Ajin and the theme of immortality it presents.

What makes Sato special is not only that he is an immortal sociopath but a free man. No longer bound by death and nothing to lose. this dude can do whatever he pleases. That means for him chasing challenge and getting that adreline rush.

However does an immortal truly has nothing to lose ? In the end Sato lost something even more important than his life : his freedom. now trapped for eternity until someone releases him. And throughout the manga, the story makes a point that the worst fate an ajin could get isn't to lose their immortality or to die. But to be caught and kept forever.

Ajin was an absolute gem. The CG took some getting used to but it's such a cool story. Love the ghosts too.
