  Just on an off note, the mention of the name Phensedyl rings back old memories from the 80's and early 90's. It all started from Nagaland and then entered Assam via Jorhat and gradually came downwards towards Guwahati and started to spread towards other parts of India. Phensedyl during those time were abused by even literate students from various backgrounds.And hence we use to know about the chemical compositions. So whenever Phenseydyl was in short supply we used to look for other cough syrups with Codeine Phosphate, which were mentioned in the labels. Corex from Fizer was an alternative but ocasssionaly as it induces blood pressure. In the early 2000 due to protest from civil society and crackdown from admininstration, Phenseydyl composition was changed by the manufacturer to dissuade users. Smuggling to Bangladesh happened very late i guess.During those times it was mostly prevalent among rock fans.For us it was a recreational type of thing in the evening.

  Thanks Zaidi sahab for enlightening us on the intricacies of indo-Bangla smuggling. Also my appreciation for Commandant SK Sood for disclosing all facts. I feel in 1971 we lost the initiative by not capturing solid lands in Bangladesh & making them current borders. We in India are loosing millions if not billions due to illegal smuggling. Probably if cattle, viagra, fenacydil are made legal trades then prices will substantially decrease, illegal politicians & criminals will get poor & our govt can earn lot of taxes for betterment of nation
