  Want to clarify when I say there are uses for AI I’m not referring to generative AI. Gen AI is the worst and has terrible side effects for artists and the environment.

  i used to be really good at being able to tell if something was AI even when it started getting better. now i cant trust my own judgment anymore

  I&apos;ve seen sooo many of the AI &quot;please tell my daugther that her crochet projects aren&apos;t ugly&quot; posts from different accounts and it&apos;s really sad how many people I&apos;ve seen fall for it in the comments.

  I&apos;m just so exhausted by this world. Everywhere you look, there&apos;s something to be afraid of, worried about, or outraged about. Everything is a con/grift or a smash and grab. I worry everyday about our government, our country, our economy, people suffering, AI, the environment and whether or not my children will be safe in the world that I&apos;ve brought them into. And everyone has something they want you to be angry about. I appreciate that you&apos;ve brought these accounts to light, it&apos;s important to know about. Yet another horrible thing to put on our 2026 dumpster fire bingo card. I am learning how to knit socks. It&apos;s simple and calming. And in the world we&apos;re navigating, simple and calming is a blessing.

  The darkest possible version of this is that there are laborers in China who are being paid a slave wage to crochet a butterfly cardigan. &nbsp;I sincerely hope that whatever people are getting from Temu, it&apos;s machine-made.<br><br>Unfortunately, the nature of scammers is to take advantage of every new technology for their own ugly ends. &nbsp;I can&apos;t be the only one old enough to have dealt with spam faxes at work. &nbsp;Scam email, scam telephone calls, scam texts, scam Facebook ads (no AI needed) -- pretty much the only platforms that were reasonably free of scams were the ones where the government controlled the medium owners (i.e. the frequencies of legal radio and legal television). &nbsp;Heck, scam patent medicine wagons in the 1800s! &nbsp;It&apos;s a bug in human nature that we haven&apos;t been able to do much about, and now with the ease of international scammers, it&apos;s difficult to do anything with legal means. &nbsp;It&apos;s a scourge and a headache.

  shout out to Biyabimi the og designer of the butterfly cardigan! It sucks that her design got fed into AI and stolen, i hate that this technology that has poisoned our water and air so badly in such a short time is being pushed as the future when all its been used for is stealing and scamming and ruining our hobbies (mainly various forms of art). i cant look up crochet patterns on etsy anymore, i can&apos;t google and get accurate answers anymore, i can&apos;t look up fan art for my fave shows without having to pause and go &quot;is this real? did a real person make this?!&quot; this ai future we&apos;re being sold is absolutely horrible and im tired of it!
