As a native New Yorker and GTA 4 Fan, I thank you very much for playing this. I have a birthday tomorrow and will be binge watching this entire series! 🤘🏾

For dialogue in vehicles, you can stop to listen carefully and not get lost among so many things to do at the same time (unless you're in a chase ). I bet many (including me) will appreciate that, especially because I think it's better to take your time and appreciate the game instead of rushing through it and missing out on several things.

I remember going to my friend’s house around the time the game released, and he had GTA IV. It completely blew me away, the level of detail in Liberty City, how many locations you could actually enter. I vividly remember driving away in a car, only for the engine to cut out because it was damaged. Then I crashed and flew out through the windshield, which absolutely blew my mind. Everything just felt so real. I was still playing on my PS2, games like GTA: Liberty City Stories, San Andreas, and Vice City Stories. So going from those (which are great, by the way) to GTA IV was a mind-blowing experience.

Going from GTA: Vice City Stories (2006) to GTA IV (2008) was like nothing I’d ever experienced before. Funnily enough, when I went to the store with my dad to buy GTA IV, they were completely sold out, so the cashier recommended Saints Row 2 (2008) instead, a game I adore. I actually ended up playing that before owning my own copy of GTA IV, and by the time I finally did, the DLCs had already come out. Still, I’ll never forget playing GTA IV for the first time.

I’m really glad you installed Fusion Fix, because the PC version of GTA IV is actually missing a lot of visual features that were present on the console versions. Despite running at higher resolutions, the vanilla PC port actually looks worse when it comes to the lighting, shadows, fog, rain, depth of field, etc. Including other atmospheric effects that are either reduced or simply don't operate correctly. If Fusion Fix didn’t exist, I’d honestly recommend playing on console instead, even with the lower resolution, because it delivers a much better atmosphere overall.

Hopefully Rockstar will remake GTA IV one of these days, or at least port it to modern consoles, like they did with Red Dead Redemption (2010). It would introduce a whole new generation to the game while everyone waits for GTA VI. It’s a no-brainer. If they even remade it within the GTA VI engine and added a few new features while still maintaining the atmosphere and tone of the original game, people would eat that up.

I’ll leave this as a separate comment, but regarding the map. In early development, Rockstar did originally consider a much larger world for GTA IV. At one point the team discussed creating a version of the entire “State of Liberty” based on New York State, rather than just Liberty City. The map would've included countryside, forests, mountains (like the Adirondacks and Catskills), and additional smaller cities inspired by places like Buffalo and Syracuse. The Hamptons would’ve also been a location to the east. But ultimately, that idea was scrapped due to time and design limitations, so the finished game focuses on Liberty City (based on NYC) and Alderney (based on New Jersey) in a compressed yet highly detailed version of those urban areas.

It’s also why there are no pilotable planes in GTA IV, the map was just too small. But the early development plans did include planes, thanks to the larger map, and you could’ve even used airports to travel to different cities, since there would have been multiple airports across the State of Liberty. So if you didn’t want to fly yourself, you could have been a passenger, just like real life.

One of the most fun parts in GTA's while driving is to listen the talks show radio channels - those are hilarious :D

The premium tip on driving is basically to break before every turn in advance. No handbrake needed. Holding gas all the time isn't a good tactics in this game
