Is the TWSBI Eco still a good beginner fountain pen in 2025?

I totally agree with you. I've got pens in all price ranges and the two TWSBI Eco's that I have are the only ones that write everytime I pick them up and put them to paper. Amazing. The TWSBI Eco can go untouched for long periods of time (months even) but will put ink down everytime.

Recent tariffs have pushed the TWSBI prices up a bit, but TWSBI is still a good value purchase. I have dozens of pens from Lamy, Pilot, Conklin and TWSBI pens and an ECO and 580 ALR are always inked and on my desk. <br>Thanks for the common sense comments, very helpful and appreciated.

I started collecting fountain pens backward. My first pen was the 149 and my second was the Visconti Homo sapiens Bronze Age. Just picked up the TWSBI 580 ALR. Can’t wait to try it out.

I got one today. On a whim, I bought a simple pen, and it's well ok I guess. I had no issue filling this pen, and I like writing with it. I am working on just writing better than I do. It's really a well-made pen for what it actually is. I ordered the pen on Friday, and it was in my mailbox on Monday the 21st.

I got into fountain pen during the Diamond 530 release, then hardly use fountain pen because of work and life. Now in 2026, I got back into fountain pen hobby again and the Diamond 530 still writes well (with the Carbon ink left inside for over 10 years!). Mine is EF nib and I wanted to try M nib, so so I only purchased a nib (Dimond 580 nib) and it works perfectly on the Diamond 530. I am so impressed with TWSBI's quality that I place order for a TWSBI Eco and considering another one for stub nib.

If you dont want a triangular grip section I highly recommend the Twsbi Swipe it has a circular grip section and the parts are hand disassemblable no tools needed which is a GREAT way to have a pen in my pro opinion :)

I have my TWSBI Eco Clear (F) from January 2025 (now is September 2025), inked with green De Atramentis Document Ink from the beginning, and several months with my irregular writing it is without any issue. Every time I grab it, it is wet, smooth, even nice writer in reverse position. I also have two TWSBI GO - EF and 1.1 mm nibs, and I like them. They look funny, but EF I use in my daily quick note writing, but grip section is quickly narrowing from barrel to nib and I think it is not for long writing and somebody might not like it.

I usually would recommend either Twsbi Eco or Lamy Safari. I love writing with both however that ink capacity within the Twsbi is amazing. Thank you for sharing.

A very nice video indeed. I agree with your remarks on The ECO. You mentioned a couple of times The EVO was your second FP. I gotta ask, what was your first?
