Apologies. We had to cut out a short clip at the beginning of the video.

A lot of you have flagged the Clemente comparison, and it's a fair catch. Roberto Clemente wasn't a pilot, he was a passenger on an overloaded DC-7 carrying earthquake relief to Nicaragua on New Year's Eve 1972. He died trying to help people, not flying a private plane for himself. That's a real and important difference from Lidle and Munson, who were both at the controls of their own aircraft, and the video should have drawn that line more clearly.

I think you should have mentioned that Lidle's wife and son did receive the standard $450 K insurance payment.

One additional interesting fact: One of the apartments affected by the crash was owned by a woman who 9+ years earlier was seriously injured by the runaway Cat In The Hat balloon at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The engine of his plane ended up in her living room.

This was a great video. I remember my father picking me up from after school program this day and he tried to explain what had happened then we listen to the Michael Kay show where I could vividly remember them playing the song live like you were dying. I’ve spent the next 20 years of my life, looking for audio from that very show.

I remember seeing this live on TV shortly after yanks were eliminated by Detroit. I admire someone who wants to be a pilot but between lidle munson and Halladay from the bottom of our hearts...don't! Rip all.
