  What an amazing, yet heartbreaking story! Surviving the war only to be killed by one man&apos;s greed. Like many others here, I had never heard this before. Thanks again for all your hard work in researching and reminding us of our untold past.

  JD, I can’t tell you how much I love your videos! Just pure, informative,captivating, interesting stories based on pure American history!! It doesn’t get much better than that!! On top of that you have a way of bringing the stories to life with your authentic, easy listening story telling style!! Just wanted to say I appreciate you! I quit drinking alcohol almost two months ago and the first two weeks were hell! I wanted to drink so bad to feel better, but I had made a promise to myself and to my wife that I was done! I binged watched your videos, and although I still felt awful, it brought me some peace, comfort, and entertainment through a really rough time! I can’t really put into words how grateful I am for that! Thank you 🙏

  Another great story JD. As if living in those mountains wasn&apos;t demanding enough, the Civil War made survival even more difficult. These stories should be taught in school to exemplify the true American Spirit and the pride we hold for these mostly forgotten pioneers. Thank you.

  A very sad story of those who fought, died, and were injured in the service of our country only to be forgotten by the country they fought for. Sadly, things aren&apos;t much different today for our returning veterans.

  Hi JD. Thank you so much for everything that you do to keep so much of our nation&apos;s history alive. <br><br>It&apos;s heartbreaking to think how many men gave up everything to fight for something that they truly believed in, only to have it all taken away by one man&apos;s greed.<br><br>I wonder how many people alive today don&apos;t have the slightest idea that this is what so many of our own great-grandparents went through.

  Thank you for sharing their story. What a horrific tragedy ...surviving the war, being captured for 7 months under appalling conditions, then to experience the explosion of the Sultana (over greed), then, the loss of his brother along with thousands of others. Topped off by the government NOT paying his pension (shameful!!!). &nbsp;May he and the others rest in peace and never be forgotten for their selfless service!
