  Guardiola was the coach who asked him not to run. Messi is a yes man for this sport, he never minds running, it was Pep who realized that if he slowed down, started the false nine position, that he would be deadly as more than a winger striker, and lo and behold, messi has well over 1200 goal contributions with G+A, still runs when needs to, and brcause he is mostly just walking, scanning, and calculating, he can explode and completely take over a game when he sees the opportunity.

  Messi&apos;s dribbling through 3-5 players all alone, falling and getting back to continuing the dribble towards the goal, and then finishing off with an amazing goal or giving it to another player, is a sight to watch.
