Gordon is actually alot more patience than the show lets on, there's a niche series called, "Hell's Kitchen Served Raw" that shows how dinner services actually goes without the edits or music and shows Gordon helping and giving advice to the chefs in the beginning, it's only after hours of repeated mistakes and incompetence is when he gets pissed off.

Gordon said in an interview he is nicer to children because he doesn’t expect them to know everything about a kitchen yet. In Hell’s Kitchen or a real kitchen he expects you to know the basics. That is why he grows horns with adults. As he puts it, “They are not children they should have the experience or why are they a chef in a kitchen?!”

I don’t tend to feel bad for a lot of the chefs on Hell’s Kitchen: a lot of them come in thinking they’re amazing chefs or hidden talents, but they’re really just not that special - and it’s good that Ramsay knocks them down a few pegs. Sounds harsh, but he’s prepping them to run a business, and fine-dining isn’t an easy task.

(btw, I only discovered you recently, but I’m very glad I did!)

These clips usually do not show the full reality of the episode. Like some episode where they cook for the Gordon family, or cook for veteran soldiers, and not only is there raw meat, but they even try hiding their mistake and sending the raw meat out.

Like, Gordon is playing it up for effect here, but these people should get screamed at way more. Gordon Ramsay even got attacked by some of these chefs when he threw them out. Some who get thrown out also stay and cause problems, and some even come back sometime later to get violent.

Finally, remember that this is a show. If the chef could make this kind of mistake on camera, imagine what would happen to your food in the closed kitchen without a camera.

10:04 to be fair, he’s nice to people who don’t pretend to be professionals, but in Hell’s Kitchen they are all professionals, so these kind of mistakes are not acceptable. But non-pros and children don’t know better, and are willing to learn, that’s why he’s softer with them. He’s more human than people who would go easy and reinforce bad behavior in professional kitchens 👍

10:13 the thing is though these adults claim to be professional chefs so when they mess up something so simple it makes sense why it would piss him off compared to the kids who aren't even old enough to drink yet
