A Cautionary Tale (With Financials) From A Newer Collector - Adventures in Card Dealing

Ripping wax is so crazy because not only do you basically never pull anything worth more than the price of the box, but even when you do, you just end up creating work for yourself. You have to invest time in selling/grading/shipping it. Most hobbies are therapeutic and relaxing, ripping wax only to sell the best cards you pull is basically just adding stress to an otherwise horrible value proposition. It’s like walking into a casino, losing all your money and then having the casino hand you a mop and bucket and telling you to get to work lol

Was not expecting to laugh during a sad story like this but “We went to Panera Bread because that’s how I roll” got me good

At least he met you and got something back as well as your wisdom.  That Panera bread lunch was like a numbered insert numbered to 50.

There’s so much value in sharing this story. Thank you to this guy for letting you share it. And to you for doing such a good job with it.

A sobering dose of reality from a true life experience. I hope at least some people watching this can avoid a similar fate.

"Whenever I drive by a Target, I have to go in and by a box..." This clip contained a ton of discomfort.

Good lesson for the beginning collector. Do it for the love of the hobby and not with the intention of getting rich, probably not going to happen. I still have my memories of delivering papers then taking my quarters and going to the store to buy cards and open them.

The oldest story in card collecting you'll never get your money back if you are opening packs.

Thanks to you and the other guy for letting him share his story. I know you warned us that you were going to use stock photos but I laughed every time the 3200 count box for each new deal was the same photo 😂
