Instead of chasing greatness as a path to happiness, chase the process. Chase the man and the actions that you can be proud of, and suddenly, choosing friends and family over work sometimes isn't a distraction or a detour; it's something that genuinely helps you achieve your goal - to be someone you can respect.

Guys if you are chasing 'Greatness' you have already lost. It's an inherently outward projection of someone you don't even know. It's a common dream among insecure and low self esteem teenagers. I hate this obsessive - athlete / artist genre of movies like Ferrari, Marty Supreme or Whiplash. These movies try to show that "greatness always comes through suffering". When you're a teen these ideas seem attractive and sexy.

People who truly achieve things don't obsess over how they are perceived. They look at themselves and try to improve by 1% each day. Their life isn't going through some grand suffering, instead its boring, repetitive and lonely. Wanting greatness is not what separates winners from losers, it's the ability to go through this grueling and boring process over and over again. Obviously these ideas don't make for a compelling film.

Winners don't care about these lofty phony motivations wanting to be "one of the greats". Look at most successful sports people, most of them have long lasting friendships and relationships.

Don't take yourself so seriously

You have to love the life that you have in order to have the life that you love

Pursuit of Greatness without self love just end up being pain in disguise.

I remember reading this book, Step Into the Life You Deserve by Arden Kale, during a period where I wanted success but underestimated what it would demand from me. This title hit because greatness always looks attractive from the outside. Watching this made me reflect on sacrifices people don’t show, the lonely hours, the discipline, the missed comforts. The cost isn’t money, it’s comfort and sometimes relationships.
