  Robert Shaye was definitely a more hands on studio head to was close with his employees, and was originally run by people who simply wanted to make movies. And was luckily kept that ability to do so for a while even after New Line was bought by Ted Turner and then later Warner Bros (at least at first). He would take risks. There’d be no Lord of The Rings trilogy if not for him taking a chance on Peter Jackson.

  It&apos;s worth noting that &quot;Weapons&quot; was New Line Cinema&apos;s first movie overall to have an Oscar win since 2007&apos;s &quot;The Golden Compass&quot;.

  i think modern horror movies are so bad because they dont have the same risk takers with so much on the line like Robert Shay or Wes Craven. These classic horrors are like makeshift. Today movies almost have too much of a safety net.
