  "It is not hands that call them, but desire" is the reason that the remake didn't work for me. A few victims of happenstance instead of them seeking hell broke the lore.

  One of the things I always liked about the first film was that Frank and Julia were the main villains.  It made the cenobites more of a mystery and the occasional line they said far more memorable.  'We'll tear your soul apart' or 'we have such sights to show you' vs talking constantly in later movies but I cannot quote anything

  The Cenobites being able to take innocents/never opening the box was a slap in the face to what both the original novella or premise of Hellraiser was.<br>Something I didn&apos;t like about Revelations as well.

  With Hellraiser Revival dropping October 8th, this is a perfect video to listen to. Grew up with Hellraiser and the first 4 are my favorites.

  Clive Barker completely disowned and divorced his name from this entire franchise after HR 2 for good reasons. <br>He wrote the Scarlet Gospels to finally put an end to it all by destroying the exploitative money grab that Hollywood turned his story into and give the characters proper endings, as he always intended.<br>The recent reboot just proved that he was right to destroy his own creation because Hollywood clearly cannot create anything good anymore and is merely subsisting on exploiting and ruining preexisting IPs.

  Frank Cotton &amp; Julia Cotton are the villains in The Hellbound Heart; the Cenobites rarely appear except for the beginning, middle, &amp; ending of the story. The Cenobites are personal to the person who summons them: Frank’s Cenobites are different from the lone Cenobites summoned by Kristy.
