I am a Northern Cheyenne. I am also a former tribal council member for the tribal government. Most importantly, I'm a Dog Soldier. We are still here and are truly a product of "The Fighting Cheyenne." We are still a dangerous society and are like the traditional police and deal with outsiders harshly. We've well adapted to modern society; our greatest weapon is our ability to adapt to the newest warfare; our job is to be put into harm's way and that's what we live for. We still to this day have military exercises on our own homeland and are ready now for anything that comes our way. I believe we have 2x as many special forces, seals and other military fighting forces in our society than the Crazy Dogs, Elk Horn Scrapers or the Bow Strings and Chiefs. I'd say it's a lot more warriors than any other group in Montana, other than the actual US military.

Very interesting , informative and thought provoking. So many things that the worlds population have 'undiscovered' over the 150 years or so would now be of so much value if applied to todays dire situation we all find ourselves in.As a western man of white origin l can only scratch the surface of that way of life.l have taken many of the traits and values into my life overthe years and feel l am a better person for that.l hope the various tribes and societies keep their traditions alive, maybe if we followed the more peaceful elements pf these societies we would live in a better world.
