Thanks for watching! This was one of the most requested topics, and one of the hardest videos I’ve ever made! :_baobunAwkward: We tried to pack in as much information as possible and only focused on women’s clothing (with just a little touch on headdresses). There’s still so much more to explore when it comes to ancient Chinese fashion, so let me know in the comments if you’d like to see more on Ancient Chinese Fashion :_baobunHappy:

The second I saw you dropped a 43 minute video on clothing, I paused and ran to make a big cup of coffee.  The amount of research and reading I'm sure you had to do is deeply appreciated!

I would killlllll to try some of those headdresses. They are so gorgeous. China absolutely wins when it comes to historical fashion for most eras of history honestly.

Can you do a part two talking about the makeup during each dynasty! I especially love the Tang dynasty makeup!!

It’s wild how the qipao has become the first thing that westerners think of when they think “Chinese dress” when it is so new and out of place compared to the MILLENIA of other dresses.

As a collector of Chinese historical fashion dolls like Kurhn (wearing costumes from the Tang, Ming and Qing dynasties) this is very helpful for me to understand the history and meaning behind each clothing choice. It really adds to my appreciation of them and for that I'm thankful. Keep up the good work!

It would be interesting to know what commoners actually wore. Because yes, laws are a one thing but we basically know that these kinds of laws are broken all the time. In Rome, for example, there were also laws controlling the clothing people could wear and writings are full of complains about common people, freed slaves etc. wearing forbidden colors, fabrics and jewels. :D

I love comparing what was going on in different parts of the world at the same time. The fasion of the Song dynasty is contemporary with the Norse Viking age.

It’s interesting how in this video, we also learn about the rise and fall of dynasties and their main philosophies. Fashion does tell history
