Problem is, even a billionaire can't buy good sense.

On the Grand Teton, our guide turned us around on July 4th weekend many years ago. The weather seemed fine. She recognized that it wasn’t BEFORE we were in danger. Without our guide, we would have ended up in one of these stories.

I don't understand why people want to hike down the
Grand Canyon in the middle of summer. Don't they understand heat? Tempe AZ

First time watching this channel. Very professional presentation with personal experience by the narrator. Never hiked the Grand Canyon. I have hiked all my life. I watch these videos to learn. Thank you for sharing.

I know from experience that there are 3 places for water on the South Kaibab--2 in the first few miles, and #3 down at Indian Garden.
Back in the early '90s, I soloed 3 times into Grand Canyon on the South Kaibab, and once on the N. Kaibab, having not a second of discomfort. However, this didn't happen by accident. I trained intensely for 3 mo. every Sat., walking as fast as I could while carrying everything I'd take in with me around a very hilly section of town, gradually working my way up toward around 20 mi. About a mo. or less before I left, I walked the entire 25 mile shoreline of a nearby lake, again as fast as I could. I also took along dripping wet T-shirts in ziploc bags, changing to a wet one when the old got dried out. It really worked, as I had absolutely no problems, even though I live in the quite flat state of Illinois.

60 fahrenheit, that is actually to me a normal temperature for a river in summer. I'm from Holland and live in Spain, Sierra Nevada, near to Granada, and go regularly to the river Genil that comes here straight down from the highest mountains, the Mulhacen and the Alcazaba. You can't swimm there, it's too shallow, but there are places where you can wade into it. I let myself go in slowly and let the water gently flow around me, then I imagine the water flows through me and cleanses me. And then I go out and sit in the sun for a while, before I go back home. It's divine ✨️ 🙌 🙏.
And in winter, after jogging, I do a cold plunge in my pool, only when there's sun so I can warm up afterwards😅
But seeing the footage of the Colorado river... I would not for my life go in such a wild streaming river and can understand that when a body is near to a sunstroke, going into such cold water is killing.

Deaths that occur in the Grand Canyon are usually reported in the local and state news in Arizona and also by social media in the outdoors communities. And the names of the deceased are released as public information. There doesn't appear to be any such reports of this family. Why didn't you identify the billionaire.

I'm sure the guides get sued all the time for injured or dead customers. Just betting the protocols are written with that in mind.
