  The mural in Crisfield is to honor not only the local crabbing industry but more specifically Hurricane Hazel and the other Black seafood workers, without whom the city could never have been the crab capital of the world. Thanks for visiting the Eastern Shore!

  Eastern Shore is beautiful.  And no one can beat our crabs!  no one!  I spent my summers in OC b/c we had beach homes on the bay and ocean front. I took it for granted as a kid, which was sad!  I didn't realize that I was very lucky to call this part of Maryland my own. Maryland is like most states.  Each area has its own culture.  The DC-Metro area is nothing like the Eastern Shore, but it's where the money is, which is what keeps Maryland at the top. 6-figure salary is the norm here.

  It’s actually true that Crisfield is built on discarded oyster shells. It’s difficult to garden, because if you dig deeper than 6 inches, you get oyster shells

  Thanks for stopping by Crisfield. My Victorian home was on your tour. Yes there are some beautiful houses in Crisfield and the town is on a picturesque part of the Chesapeake Bay. There are lots of investors who are picking up houses and renovating them rejuvenating the  City of Crisfield. This historical city deserves to be one of the charms of Maryland as I’m sure most people who live there already know. ❤

  Smith Island would be the furthest town away from anything and still be in Maryland, it's like being in a whole different dimension. Crisfield died when the seafood industry did.

  Wow!  I just love your walking/Rolling tours! I am from Maryland, from the Western Shore. And there is so much that I don't know about many towns on the Eastern Shore. So thank you very much. I will need to make a "pilgrimage" in the not too distant future.

  I visited Crisfield a few years ago to see the world's largest rubber ducky 😅 it was a lovely town, and I loved speaking with the folks at the Heritage Foundation about the town's history.

  A lot of people tend to believe the Eastern Shore is inexpensive. &nbsp;That is not the case at all. &nbsp;Like any other place, the more remote areas of the Eastern Shore can be inexpensive, but when you talk about places like Talbot and Queen Anne&apos;s County, they can be pretty pricey. &nbsp;In fact, Talbot and Queen Anne&apos;s counties are two of the wealthiest counties in Maryland, and St. Michael&apos;s has the most millionaires per capita than any other place in the country.<br><br>The average cost of a house in Queen Anne&apos;s County is about $500,000, and if you get in the Queenstown to Stevensville areas, be prepared to cough up 600,000 t0 800,000. &nbsp;A one bedroom rental is going to run you about 1,500.00 a month in most of the uppershore areas, and in several areas, you&apos;re going to start at about 2,000 for a one bedroom.<br><br>The Eastern Shore has become a resort area, and with it brings a higher cost of living than many people realize.

  Eastern shore native , thanks for showing the beauty of this area. Historically the eastern shore (along route 301) was apart of the Underground Railroad.. don’t feel like it’s talked about enough. From crisfield all the way to Elkton.

  I spent most of my life in Maryland. &nbsp;It&apos;s beautiful but expensive. &nbsp;I &nbsp;moved to Texas 25 years ago. &nbsp;I lived in ST. MARYS COUNTY.
