  GoNY is such an underrated film. One of Scorcese’s best. I’ll never understand why it’s so underrated. The entire cast ensemble was incredible; I never got the hate for Cameron Diaz.. so her accent wasn’t perfect, who cares? Every actor and their character in this film shined and the film gets better with each viewing.

  I have Gangs of New York on DVD, and i love the bonus disk,.....it has a lot of "behind the scenes" footage of how the giant sets were built, and the costumes of the period, were created. The movie is rich in color and atmosphere. The character portrayals are amazing.  DiCaprio is but a mere baby in this film,....some of his earliest work in motion pictures.

  Pure perfection ❤❤❤❤I watch this movie for the first time early 2006 and I was WOW 😮 the music, performance,costumes everything was perfect..I cried so hard in the ending..final scene is heartbreaking 💔

  Hear this. Producers will never again make a movie like this. They will never build an authentic town or city of this scale. Actors wont ever feel the authenticity of the set as they did in this and previous films. And their performances will also lack authenticity for that same reason.

  Fantastic behind-the-scenes. Interesting that this video was mostly about THE SCENES. 😁And fitting. The look of the period in the clothes and the sets is just such a character in this movie. It's not just realism but the stylization that the costume designer pointed out. The heightened real, not the real real.

  And just think Barack Obama great great grandfather came from Co Offaly and was church of Ireland, which of course, is protestant rather than being Roman catholic
