So awesome! My son is Sonny Liston’s great great nephew. I’m trying to teach him about Sonny and it is awesome to come across this song.

From the very first note you know it is Mark Knopfer. In my opinion, the best guitarist ever.

Mark ages like a fine wine.  He just gets better and better.  He tells a whole biography in a song and does it with class.  What a talent!

I feel that 'Song for Sonny Liston' is greatly underrated by the general public. Mark's songwriting and storytelling are on point and the groove is just otherwordly. I Like it very, very much.

I think that "criss-cross, on his back, scars from his daddy like a slavery track" might just be my favourite lyrics in any song.

What a great homage to a heavyweight champ who was reviled by so many. Bravo Mark! RIP Sonny!

Nobody deserved an honorarium more that Sonny Liston. A guy who never had  enough to eat growing up or a loving parent. He ended up in the grip of the mob and died before his 40th b’day. Yet he had a punch that would drop an angus bull. Kudos to Mark for memorializing him in a great song.

I might like Shangri-La more than any Dire Straits album even and that's saying something.  Absolutely one of my favorite records of all time, hands down.  Killer from top to bottom.
