  Can we adopt the old Chinese tradition of having a &quot;child&quot; name (given by your parents) and an &quot;adult&quot; name (which you choose when coming of age). About the only people who can use your birth name after you choose your own are your mom and close childhood friends. I like that this old name is &quot;overly intimate&quot; rather than a &quot;deadname&quot; and <i>everyone</i> chooses a new name as an adult.

  As a french people, I think &quot;Willeaux&quot; is supposed to be &quot;Willow&quot; since &quot;eaux&quot; in french is pronounced like the letter &quot;o&quot; but it&apos;s still awful spelling 😂

  Zzyzx, as it turns out, is actually the name of a town in California, pronounced &quot;ZEE ziks&quot; or &quot;ZAI ziks.&quot; Chosen intentionally with the intention of it being the last word in the English language. Clearly, Zzyzx&apos;s parents visited Zzyzx, California and/or saw it on a road sign and went &quot;Ah yes, a wonderful name for my baby.&quot;

  My BIL did the opposite. He&apos;s a French Canadian, his wife is Korean and their household speaks English. They insisted on naming their child a name easy to pronounce in all 3 languages.

  Persephone is a pretty well known name. It is the name of a Greek demi-goddess in ancient myth, and is well liked and sometimes still used now. The mythological character is the daughter of Demeter, who went to the Underworld with Hades. She spends half the year in the underworld ( autumn and winter) and half the year in the mortal world (spring and summer). I know a cat, and a bicycle, with this name. It is only a tragedeigh in the sense of the myth, not the name itself :)
