  I was just in my pre teens that year, and remember being stunned by the sudden change of Lincoln from ugly to pure beauty.  Made everything else look ugly.

  My grandmother had a ‘61 convertible, white with red leather interior.   Prettiest car I ever saw.

  The transformation from 1960 to 1961 was astounding. Clean lines, no fins,  no crap. It would look good even today. Ford really blew the doors off with 1961 Lincoln.

  I was born in 1961, and, practically from birth, I fell in love with the 1961 Lincoln and thought that it was the most beautiful car ever.  In 1967, my grandfather finally bought one, and I loved it, although it wasn't quite as iconic as the 1961 model.  Decades later, I till think that it is the most beautful American car ever built.

  My uncle had a dark metallic blue sedan , not sure on the year . It became the nicest car in the family , and we all got excited when we got to ride in it . The reverse hinge doors made it the cool car all us kids dreamt of.

  I grew up with my father’s 1964 Continental. What really characterized it was that it was beautifully made and durable. He put 300,000 miles on before he gave it up in the late 70’s.  The interior was still luxurious and in good condition.  The fittings and materials were so far beyond Cadillac of the same year there was no comparison. Everything always worked from the power vent windows to the vacuum locks until the last day.  Maintenance wasn’t hard because things like the door panels were screwed in place, not clipped.  It was quiet and smooth riding.   Handling was not its forte though.  It was a freeway dream but avoid twisty back roads!

  My family had a 67 lincoln continental. By then they had stretched the wheelbase 3 inches so there was more room in the back

  Owned a '71 Town Coupe and drove it all over the Western US. Still have good memories of it, with it's walnut leather interior casually referred to in the video. Even old friends frequently reminded me how much they liked that car; mine didn't have the maintenance troubles mentioned here.

  I am Belgian, my father drived a Mercedes in this time, but I love this Continental ; it's one of the most beautiful  american cars ever made. Thanks for  this video.

  My aunt had two 1961 Lincoln convertibles; one at her home atop the cliffs at LaJolla, the other at her home in Wichita, Kansas where her first two husband had their oil companies.  She would fly back to Kansas once a month for board meetings at the bank she was part owner of, and would sometimes come to visit my mom, her sister.  Once I was old enough for a driver’s license, I got to take the Wichita convertible out for gasoline, occasional service and always a wash.  My peers were envious watching me put the top up and down!
