Is “Dwight” Investigating the LDS Church... Right Before Conference?

RAINN WILSON JUST SHOWED UP AT TEMPLE SQUARE… AND THEN MET WITH A GENERAL AUTHORITY ABOUT THE BOOK OF MORMON 👀🔥 Something VERY interesting is happening in Salt Lake City just days before October 2026 General Conference. Rainn Wilson — best known around the world as Dwight Schrute from The Office — has suddenly been appearing around some very familiar Latter-day Saint locations. 🎶 He spent time with The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. 📺 He attended Music and the Spoken Word. 📖 And most intriguingly, he reportedly sat down with Elder Peter M. Johnson of the Seventy for a conversation involving faith and the Book of Mormon. So naturally, people are asking the obvious question: WHAT EXACTLY IS GOING ON WITH DWIGHT? 😂 Is Rainn Wilson simply researching another religion? Has his curiosity about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints become something deeper? And how much of the Book of Mormon has he actually read? Because this story did NOT begin this week. More than a year ago, Wilson described sitting anonymously inside the Salt Lake City airport and watching Latter-day Saint missionary after missionary return home to enormous groups of family members. Nobody knew he was watching. Nobody was performing for a camera. And what he witnessed affected him enough that he later told his wife: “Maybe these Mormons have got something really right here.” He saw huge families. Hugs. Missionaries returning from around the world. People genuinely rejoicing together. And that immediately reminded me of one remarkable phrase from the Book of Mormon: ✨ “THE JOY OF THE SAINTS.” In this episode, we explore why that seemingly ordinary airport experience may be far more important than it first appears. We also discuss Jacob Hansen’s fascinating “golden pill” analogy. What if someone first presented you with extraordinary religious claims — angels, golden plates, modern prophets and additional scripture? You might understandably be skeptical. But what happens if you encounter the FRUIT first? What if you discover measurable patterns showing unusually high religious participation, prayer, volunteerism, family satisfaction, scripture knowledge and even longevity among Latter-day Saints? Does that prove Joseph Smith was a prophet? No. But does it make the extraordinary claims of the Restoration worth investigating more seriously? That is a very different question. And Rainn Wilson may be giving us a real-world example of exactly that process. First he notices something unusual in ordinary Latter-day Saint families. Then he keeps asking questions. Then suddenly, more than a year later, he is sitting across from a General Authority discussing the Book of Mormon. What happened in between? 🤔 We also examine Wilson’s hilarious recent joke about converting to Mormonism if he could somehow get into the Tabernacle Choir… …and then, only days later, HE ACTUALLY SHOWS UP WITH THE TABERNACLE CHOIR. 😂 Choose the Dwight, anyone? But there is another major piece to this story — and we deliberately save it until later in the episode. Rainn Wilson has spent years publicly wrestling with questions about God, spirituality, meaning, community and what happens to society when people lose a spiritual foundation. He has heard believing Latter-day Saints. He has heard critics. He has spoken with former members. He has interacted with people across the wider Mormon intellectual world. And now, right before General Conference, the Book of Mormon itself has entered the conversation. This is happening during what some observers are calling another “Mormon Moment” — or perhaps even a “great noticing” of Latter-day Saints in American culture. People are talking about the Church again. Sometimes positively. Sometimes negatively. But they are LOOKING. So perhaps the most important question isn't simply: “Is Rainn Wilson going to become Mormon?” Maybe the bigger question is: When the world starts looking at Latter-day Saints again… what are they going to see? Rainn Wilson saw what he described as loving families rejoicing together. And it made him curious. Now he’s talking about the Book of Mormon. Where does that curiosity go next? Watch the full episode and decide for yourself. And Rainn… if that Tabernacle Choir conversion offer still stands… we know a couple of missionaries who can help with the paperwork. 😏 CHOOSE THE DWIGHT. 📅 Seth will be speaking as a keynote speaker at the FIRM Foundation Conference on October 15 at 6:15 PM.
