  I used to mow my elderly neighbors yard as a young teen. One night I saw EMS there and went to see what happened. Her husband had died 😢 the police asked me if I could stay with her until family arrived. She held onto me until her family walked through the door. Even at 14 or 15, I was so grateful that I could bring her that small amount of comfort for an hour or so ❤ they were beautiful people.

  As a retired Firefighter, the first thing you do when you smell something foul, especially when the neighbors tell you that nobody has been see at the residence, is to call law enforcement! &nbsp;I can&apos;t believe that nobody did this! &nbsp;This is called &quot;a wellness check&quot; and is routine for police to perform.

  Some neighbours nosy into the clean up but could not check on the people inside they should be ashamed

  What i dont understand is why neighbors cant help mow the lawn for their elderly neighbor, but got alot if things to say when some stranger arrives to help clean for a person they&apos;ve never even met.<br><br>Thank you for being a great example in your Community and helping someone who clearly needed help with cleanup following tragically losing her husband.

  Once you smelled the smell , and doors are open, is to call the police and have them come check to see if someone has died.

  I don&apos;t understand how neighbors can say &quot;we&apos;ve done all we can&quot; when they&apos;ve obviosly done very little.

  I live in a huge condo complex. &nbsp;There are 208 condos. &nbsp;I always would see an elderly lady near the entrance to the condo neighborhood smoking next to the street. &nbsp;For years I saw her everyday. &nbsp;Then one day I stoped seeing her. &nbsp;I went around to all the condos in her area and no one knew where she was, nor had they seen her. &nbsp;I didn’t know her name or if she had family. &nbsp;(Her condo was quite a way from mine.) &nbsp;No one else knew either. &nbsp;Unacceptable! &nbsp;I called the condo manager and told him. &nbsp;He said she was married and he would call to check and see if they were okay. &nbsp;Turns out she had gotten quite ill and was in hospital, now home but needs a walker and is on oxygen 24/7. &nbsp;It’s not acceptable to just turn your head the other way. &nbsp;I know all the neighbors around me and help them whenever they need it. &nbsp;Let’s all make an effort to know our neighbors. &nbsp;It’s the neighborly thing to do. &nbsp;😊

  My Dad would make me mow our elderly neighbors yards. &nbsp;That is how I was raised.

  We didn&apos;t see our next door neighbour for 3 days and got worried as she was an alcoholic and may have fallen. Hubby managed to get in through a bedroom window and found her dead. The police believed she may have been dead for at least 2 days. Her daughter was devastated that she hadn&apos;t been to see her that week although she was very regular in checking on her usually. Be kind and check on your neighbours and family members regularly.
