Ok, let’s be honest…even if this doesn’t work (and I hope it does), that has got to be one of the coolest things I’ve seen.  Mike seems like a solid guy too!  He does this all the time and was still really excited during the process.

I have used Bentonite on ponds, and it has always worked well.

I too was wondering what that slime does to the ecology of the pond , especially the bottom creatures .

I've got a pond and had to seal it with Dynamat.  going down 10 feet to the leak with a 1/2 stick of 40% did the job.  Several places though.  I think he knew what side he had the leak on as I did too.  Fix it.  I did.  I like this guy and I am 76 now.

Chris Guins of the LetsDig18 YouTube channel is the expert for making and repairing ponds.  He usually does it with a clay core, but I have seen him use Bentonite, which is a natural equivalent of the polymer you used in this video.  Chris is based in North Carolina.

I sealed ponds before with a 2' layer of topsoil compacted and hold water. But once the last 2-3' of water that fills up the weight is astronomical. So every time we built a pond we ordered several pallets of bentonite in 100lb bags and covered the bottom and slopes with a spreader on a tractor, then we tilled it in the top 6-8 inches and recompacted it. Never had a leak in all the ponds we built. You can also spread it on top of the water and it will swell and plug up the leak just like the stuff your using.  It seems the entire pond is leaking wants it gets so much pressure or it might be leaking at a certain elevation on the slopes. We've installed slurry walls before with clay, bentonite, and water which is clay based to stop water infiltrating a basement on a Comercial building, and after 70 days it sets up and blocks the water. I must say I'm impressed with the drone spreading the material it's awsome! Forget the Jon boat.

That's pretty impressive once it gets wound up and going. U get to see it a little better close up than when those drones are flying over huge fields. I'm sure we'll be seeing more of this in the coming years.
