I was fortunate to have attended Andy's 1979 appearance at the Wiltern Theatre in Hollywood where he performed many of his amazing characters. He had the entire audience bussed to the Old Spaghetti Factory where we were served cookies and milk by Robin Williams. It was unreal. I've seen several articles about his Carnegie Hall performance, but not about Hollywood.

It was only when he started appearing on Letterman that I finally 'got' Andy. I distinctly remember sitting on the sofa thinking, "my god, he's destroying his own career...and he's doing it ON PURPOSE! This is incredible!!"

Mr Rogers,  Julie Andrews and Andy Kaufman. That is the best guest lineup I have ever heard.

I love how Dave shuffles the same two sheets of paper when he&apos;s tense (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GCt9CLdmew&amp;t=482">8:02</a>)

I think Jerry Lawler even gave Andy the soap bar idea he used on one of his &quot;tauntings,&quot; when he explains how soap works to a Heartland audience. It was a brilliant collaboration.
