Lucasarts really sabotaged this game. The devs told the higher ups “hey if we rush this its gonna be a 6/10 game and people aren’t gonna like it”. It ended up being a 6/10 average game and people didn’t like it lmao.

TFUII was a fun little distraction. I just remember being really confused that I beat the entire game in one sitting.

There were lots of genuinely fun things about it but ultimately it was a rushed hackjob of a game that didnt have enough time or resources for it to be anything more than okay.

When I played this game I genuinely thought the Starkiller we play as wasn't a clone. Because falling in love with Juno was the only thing he did in the first game of his own will, while everything else was either obeying Darth Vader or dealing with the consequences of doing it. When he was being brainwashed by Vader and had to kill a representation of Juno, his refusal to do it felt very human.

Force unleashed 2 hate won't be tolerated due to the fact we need a 3

I was so disappointed by the 2nd game purely by its length. I bought it at like 2pm, got home and finished it by nearly 9pm

I was hoping the second game was going to follow the light or dark side (both options available to continue both endings of the first game) and be the resurrected Starkiller all masked up and everything working for Palpatine as his new Apprentice, but got a random clone story instead

I want The Force Releashed, just both games and all DLC all in one (maybe) $40 package. Everything given some love so it runs smoothly, add skins into the game, too lol and add in some extra easter eggs

As I'm watching this, I'm getting flashbacks to learning about KotOR II's exceptionally rushed development.
See, I think there's absolutely a gem of a story hidden beneath TFUII. The clone question is a fantastic question. Is this Starkiller a clone? Is he not? And what little IS in the game points to both answers being technically possible. And so the game putting its basis on Starkiller's personal identity, who he (or the clone) is, and what he chooses to do could be up to him and not his memories of a "dead man". There IS something here. Like the writers actually thought out a story that fits in-universe.
The problem... is that TFUII's release was so rushed that we didn't really get the full picture. Everything in the game IS rushed. Leaving Kamino, finding Kota, Finding Juno, back to Kamino, final battle. It's a game that can casually be beaten in what? 3 or 4 hours if you aren't searching for every little collectible? (of if its the PC version, crashing every twenty minutes for 99% of people)

KotOR II's development mimics this in basically the exact same way. A super successful game in the franchise pops off and is essentially Game of the Year, they put another development team onto the sequel and they pop OFF with ideas that are so fantastic that it's difficult to argue there's a great core. Except... The release date is 9 months away. The difference between the two games is that Obsidian's history is basically pulling the best games out of their * for no reason, and while you do see the issues, the game is still beloved and playable with only a few loose sections that don't make too much sense unless you have the meta knowledge that Obsidian was rushed to develop the game.

Both games have great core ideas that narratively and thematically fit the Star Wars universe as a whole, and given time, I think TFUII actually could've been beloved if they were given maybe... Another year and double the levels? At least one Sith Starkiller level, maybe have him be successful in the first Kamino mission but fail to kill Kota or SOMETHING... Idk.

As an aside: I actually like TFUII's combat better than TFU. TFU on any difficulty above normal, you can tell the game wasn't meant to accommodate for. It quickly becomes exceptionally janky to navigate and it's super easy to get stunlocked to death no matter how powerful you are. Whereas TFUII I feel puts the brakes on stunlocks. I do like the first game better, but the second game just has a feeling like I'm gliding through without crappy deaths every few minutes hoping to get lucky.

this is a game that starts out strong but then it's almost like watching a movie that was severely trimmed down in the editing. such a shame because it could've been something special

The Wii version actually has Dagobah as a full level and it's pretty cool from what i can remember. Shame the 360/ps3 version didn't really have a level there.
