  Fire Tempest's reminder that if both players hit zero life it's a draw is legitimately a good clarification, definitely goes beyond just "if you're at zero life you die"

  Speaking on Duel Masters, one of the biggest reasons why it flopped was because they decided to not take the dub seriously and essentially made it to a glorified abridged series but without the funny and with dated references. It could have been a competitor to Yugioh given that Bakugan filled that niche once the Duel Monsters era was finished.<br><br>They then tried to revive the game in the west by giving it a completely new identity, which they called Kaijudo. Of course, it was a flop and Wizards ended support. If they actually took the game seriously in the west, we would have had a big 4 instead of the big 3.

  Riding the Dilu Horse is misprinted - it was supposed to end at end of turn. This was stated in the original Three Kingdoms FAQ. For some reason, Wizards later neglected this when legalizing the card.

  Portal 1 also had a VERY strange feature. Trample didn’t exist because the way combat worked, ALL creatures had trample. I had to relearn how combat worked after I got into 5th edition/Tempest block.

  I absolutely love portal. I love the more subtle art. I love the simpler cards and the revised look, the symbols and the differences between effect and flavourtext.<br>Also i do not believe that players have to learn mtg all over again, just because the keywords and cardframe are different.

  Nice shoutout to Duel Masters. It was my gateway into TCGs growing up. Don’t think I’d have been able to transition into MTG later in life without that exposure. I still have all my old Duel Masters cards today and teaching young nephew how to play

  While I see your points about Lands being clunky at times, I do like the layer of strategy that they add as a resource system and as flavor. The visual of two battling mages or Planeswalkers constructing territory from areas of land pulled in from different universes is really cool to imagine as you play. And I especially appreciate how having to build up that resource base significantly limits the kinds of turn 1 instant kill combos that, for me at least, suck a lot of the fun out of YuGiOh.

  Piracy is still pretty good, although for a completely different reason.<br>Now, you can use it to get players to tap out (whether they want to or not) in order to be relatively safe from counterplays as you unleash your winning combo.
