  Advanced late stage Pancreatic cancer patient here. Will be on this drug in October ('26). Will rewrite my life expectancy. I'm 40. I could see another decade... Maybe more. Grateful for the researchers and doctors and trial patients. Grateful for every little moment and every single day - life is a gift.

  I work in data entry and billing in a pharmacy, here is my med naming theory: each company has an office cat that they let walk across the keyboard when coming up with the name for each drug. They look at the letters, scritch the kitty, and think “nailed it”

  I always think these breakthroughs are worthy of  headline news. A malaria vaccine? The most deadly disease in the world at one point, maybe still is. Therefore, to me, that's HUGE

  Glad they included the side effects and the &quot;not a cure&quot; part bcs the numbers alone are alrdeady striking. Median survival going from 6.7 to 13.2 months and progression free survival doubling from 3.6 to 7.2 is real progress for a disease with so few wins, right??? And what i keep coming back to is what daraxonrasib might do once its paired with something else. Its being studied with vopimetostat which goes after MTAP loss in the same tumors and the early results were 11 of 12 patients responding. Thats a small early study and its not established yet but with daraxonrasib already doing this well on its own, if those doublet readouts hold, it’s going to be a huge shift

  Those names are not &quot;marketing&quot;, they are standardised. &quot;Toci-&quot; is a prefix selected by the developer, &quot;-li-&quot; indicates that the target subsystem is the immune system or cytokines (in this case the IL-6R receptor), &quot;-zu-&quot; indicates that the antibody is humanized (mouse loop structure with a human antibody framework) and finally &quot;-mab&quot; is the functional suffix, in this case the historical identifier for all monoclonal antibodies.<br>These are from the pre-2021 change, and if it was named today it would be called Tocikibart. The &quot;-zu-&quot; infix has been eliminated entirely in post-2021 rules to shorten the names.

  My friend died Sept 5th of pancreatic cancer...diagnosed in July gone by September. Never even got the chance to try a treatment. It really does take you quick, and with massive pain.
