My grandfather was Mayor of Tampa during the 1890's. He was working in his yard on election day, and friends passed by and told him that he had better get down to the city hall, because people were voting for him. He had not run for the office at all, and was the most surprised person in town that he won.

My grandfather moved to Tampa from Mexico as a child in 1908, making me a third generation Tampanian. I was born in Central Espanol Hospital and raised in West Tampa. This is a fantastic video, and I am going to make sure my daughters watch it, thanks for making it. P.S. My daughter graduated from the University of Tampa, which of course is the former Tampa Hotel.

This is an extremely impressive video. I have lived in Tampa for my entire 48 years so far and this is the most detailed and correct historical video I have ever seen about Tampa. You have really outdone yourself with this video.

It’s ashame that no mention of MacDill AFB, which has a long history with Tampa. HQ for the Gulf War and HQ for Special Operations
