I have a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek with 200k miles on it. Drives great , I change the Cvt fluid every 35k miles. I found that Triax CVT fluid is the best by far. I changed the CVT solenoid Valve myself saved me 3K bucks. It was like driving a new Subaru I did not realize how bad the Solenoids were , I changed the whole valve controller instead of the Solenoids. There are alot more to those things than just those Two most people change there are I think two inside of the the thing.... CVT transmissions work fine if you take care of it and change your fluid. I don't know what possessed Subaru to say its a lifetime fluid , if they said the same about motor oil people would laugh at them but its basically the same stuff well close.

Your CVT will last you a long time as long as you take care of it. Change the fluid every 30k and always do a dump and fill, never flush it.

CVTs have their place. They're GREAT for gas mileage. In fact my wife's larger, heavier 7 passenger SUV with a larger engine gets better mileage than my small sedan. In fact she regularly gets 25 to 30 mpg with city driving, while my car barely gets 33mpg on long highway trips. On a long highway trip, I can push hers close to 40 mpg if I'm careful about it, but easily get 35+ with no effort.

But yes, they are fragile. If a manufacturer could make a CVT that uses a fairly cheap CVT fluid, adding a simple 15K drain and fill procedure every 15K miles wouldn't be a big deal, especially if that made them just as reliable as a standard transmission.

Just use quality oil ( I use Amsoil ) and a must , install an external oil cooler ( I installed a Hayden 678 to cool things down and thinking about looping the coolant lines because I live in the tropics ). I still don’t understand why manufacturers don’t include an external oil cooler either CVT transmissions knowing they are weak, specially in hot weather. They are greedy!

Fluid change on time plus use Xado revitalizant, it forms cermet, ceramic metal, coatings on friction surfaces and prolongs life.

Why do millions of scooters across the world use these if they are so fragile? They use them because they’re tough as hell. The auto industry just hasn’t incorporated the science like it should be. They over complicated it. It is a simple and inexpensive solution to transportation when done right. Only the nightmare THEY created when done wrong.

Better to buy a car without a CVT. A torque converter trans is much better, even better is a manual gearbox!

"I have a Nissan Teana with a driveline issue that occurs mainly when the car is cold. When I shift into Drive and let the vehicle move without pressing the accelerator, the car produces continuous jerking or knocking vibrations up to around 20 km/h. The vibration feels like it comes from the center floor area, as if the car is driving over small bumps. Once the engine and transmission warm up, the symptoms become weaker but still appear when accelerating from a stop until reaching about 20 km/h. All front suspension components, engine mounts, and transmission mounts have already been replaced, and the transmission has been opened and inspected with no faults found. I need a detailed diagnostic to identify the root cause of this low‑speed
ترجمه
