  Empathy vs Sympathy vs Apathy. There is a big difference between the three and this is what needs to be compared with those situations.

  A hotline for people with agressive and murderous intents is an interesting idea, i mean i suffer with schizoaffective disorder and intrusive thoughts and its very sketchy to talk about it even with therapists

  The empathy part was so strange to me. When I was a little kid I saw a snail on the ground and out of morbid curiosity I wanted to know what would happen if I crush its shell. I did it. The moment I stepped off the snail&apos;s shell, I felt terribly sad. That poor innocent snail was just living its life, bothering no one and I CHOSE to ruin its life, just because I wanted to see it. Still to this day, I feel a bit bad about it.

  I might sound crazy for this, but it sounds a lot like she&apos;s dealing with intrusive thoughts from OCD (with an added lack of empathy) and she&apos;s asking people for assurance because it&apos;s still stressful having those intrusive thoughts. Like even if she&apos;s a sadist who enjoys hurting others, this is clearly distressing enough for her to where she&apos;s repeatedly obsessing over morality and asking others for help, more or less. Am I alone in thinking this? I have OCD myself and can understand the assurance part.

  i don&apos;t have aspd, but due to several other mental issues i have very low empathy for anyone not extremely close to me. because i know i have low empathy for them, i consciously choose to be kind, understanding and not let my lack of empathy affect my actions. that&apos;s the responsible thing to do in my opinion.

  I once read an interview with someone who has ASPD and completely lacks empathy and the example he gave was, that if his coworker&apos;s parent dies, he just feels nothing for that person. To him death is a normal part of life, completely unavoidable and thus nothing to be sad about. However, he also knows that the socially acceptable response is to express your condolences to said person and try to make them feel better. He doesn&apos;t do it because it because it&apos;s what he would want others to do for him but simply because he knows other people need to be told &quot;I&apos;m so sorry for your loss&quot;. He doesn&apos;t have any empathy but he also doesn&apos;t want anyone to suffer. He doesn&apos;t have anyone he loves (at least not in the way most of us do) but he also doesn&apos;t have the urge to hurt anyone. He has a completely normal life. He isn&apos;t a bad person, he just had to manually learn how to handle social interactions that come more or less natural to most of us.

  One reminder about having low empathy is that a person can develop higher empathy with therapy and commitment to personal development!
