  Creature types were seen as an extra place to build flavor back then, aside from the few tribes like goblins, merfolk, elves, and zombies. I think they began to realize that this was a mistake once they tried adding in a bit more tribal support later (like digeradoo not working with creatures that are clearly depicted as minotaurs in their artwork), but this was in an era before widespread Internet access and the expectation that you should look up errata online. I'm glad they bit the bullet and errata'ed stuff so it made rules sense, even though a lot of old cards don't play as written.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UP5kVDd4CM&amp;t=960">16:00</a> as you said earlier, Wizards made it a point that creatures only had one type. The Island Fish was not both and Island and a Fish, it was Island Fish, all one. &nbsp;This was not a problem until they <b>introduced</b> the fact that each word in the Summon line was its own type. They broke it, not the card, it was fine up until they borked the system.

  The funniest thing about Island Fish Jasconius being an Island is that his ability makes him die if you don&apos;t control an Island, so that part of the effect is never relevant unless you have no other islands and something changes his creature type, in which case he inmediatly dies.
