  Fun fact, John Glenn really did refuse to make that space flight unless Katherine checked the IBM mainframe&apos;s numbers.<br>Also, they compressed the timeline a bit. It actually took about a day and a half for her to verify the machine&apos;s calculations.

  This movie just shows a FRACTION of what Black women go through in the workplace. Constantly second-guessed even when we’re the best at what we do. It’s exhausting.

  I think you guys missed the significance of the pearls. During her meltdown over the bathrooms she mentions that they don&apos;t pay colored women enough to afford a strand of pearls. So for them to get her a wedding gift (which was also kind of unheard of for the times) and then have it be a strand of pearls. That actually shows how they all came to respect and listen to her. <br><br>I do find it interesting too, that the only other woman in the department is the one who seems to understand her easier than most of the men. That first time she wrote on the board and they are staring at her numbers in shock - he asks whose work it is and all the men just stare at each other. I think Paul would have taken credit for it if he thought he could... but it was the white lady who finally spoke up to let the boss know who did that brilliant work. So I think she was sincere with the gift and the compliment.

  During production the team and Taraji herself interviewed Katherine Johnson on her life/experiences at NASA, in order to capture a more faithful portrayal. Taraji said she was a kind and amazing woman. So humble was she that, even after being told about the film, she said she couldn’t for the life of her understand why anyone would want to make a movie about her life. 😭💕 Bless all of these women and their groundbreaking work! 🙌🏾 So glad y’all watched this movie, and I hope many more do

  as a young Black engineer, i can a watch this movie 50 times and cry every time. Katherine’s story and this movie had a DIRECT impact in my professional career journey.
