Are Florida property taxes going away? No. But Florida Amendment 3 could significantly change the homestead exemption for non-school property taxes beginning in 2027. In this video, I explain what Florida homeowners receive today, what Amendment 3 proposes to change, and the important dates homeowners and people considering a move to Florida need to know. If approved by Florida voters, Amendment 3 would increase the homestead exemption for non-school property taxes to $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028, with inflation adjustments after that.
