The Greens get in their own way too much to their own detriment. Progress is better than no progress no matter how lofty and righteous your goals are.

They need to follow the UK Greens into an emphasis on class politics and wealth inequality, working on generating solidarity of the 99%, as wealth inequality continues to worsen and destroy our society, while One Nation tries to scapegoat whatever little folks they calculate they can punch down on. It seems like they've started on that tack judging from what i see on Youtube from them, but they're not finding an audience, and of course the MSM will be full blackout on anything like that. They need some viral cachet somehow...

Can see a small bump as Shoebridge is a better speaker than Larissa. He still doesn't have the broad appeal or messaging skill of Mamdani or Talarico, so as you said it will come down to Labor continuing to slide right.

I doubt it will change as a good chunk of Greens supporters are more interested in purity politics than anything pragmatic so if Shoebridge does try to increase their broad appeal they'll just call him a sell out and probably jump in bed with the teals or some new party that spouts idiocy about tearing up international contracts.

While its up in the air if they can break the green ceiling, I think if any Greens MP can do it as leader, it'd be Shoebridge

Shoebridge makes most politicans look so dumb. That dude is remarkable.

It's a shame Peter Wish-Wilson couldn't hang around and do it. Shoebridge is great, but Peter had such charisma. Unfortunately the greens won't play personality politics, I don't know how that competes these days.

The ALP change was a disaster and usually happens behind closed doors. It was Rudd getting revenge for being ousted. <br><br>All it does is paralyse the party fir a month at a time

I don't care whether they are right or left - THEY ARE HONEST<br>That is what we need these days, a party that does not steal off the people of australia<br>It does not matter about their policies so much - they will not give our money to their mates or to america.<br>That is what matters.......<br>They or we should be pushing this point - get the message out there.<br>& yes if they presented themselves in the style of Mamdani, it would help a lot.

David Shoebridge is the first Greens leader who can talk credibly about AUKUS and Commonweath - State funding arrangements. BTW Sloanie David has been in the NSW State parliament for six years - not a newby. This Green does not want us to replace the ALP but perhaps in the future when Albo has gone (he's a very stubborn man who hates the Greens) we could form a coalition government. We could improve the talent pool of ministers.

"The Greens aren't as popular as Zohran Mamdani because they didn't allow their members to vote for their leader"<br><br>Yeah I'm thinking that Mamdani's popularity might be a little more nuanced than that, but what do I know?
