I'm sorry, but you gotta learn the difference between EU and Europe. If Eurovision were only for EU-countries a lot of the members of EBU, for instance Switzerland, wouldn't be able to compete. React to a video maybe about the EU? Those reactions are usually popular. โค<br><br>And one about how Eurovision works.

I will try to explain this. Eurovision is produced by the EBU (European Broadcasting Union), Every country within their sphere, that has a National television station, that is a member of the EBU, can take part. EBU stretches from Scandinavia in the North, Jordan in the East, Ireland in the West and Northern Africa to the South. This is the reason why Israel and Marocco have taken part. Australia is a special case, they have been broadcasting the contest for decades, and in 2015, they got a special invite, and they have gotten that invite every year since then. The contest's borders therefore has nothing to do with the EU, or even the geographical borders of Europe.

And ESC is not just singing or dancing competition. For me (as normal European person) it is way to find new music and artists around of Europe. It is one way artists to get exposure and countries showcase their culture and music. Song doesn't necessarily need to be "traditional music style" but they may include some aspects of countries' traditions, folklores, instruments or music styles. It is also way to have fun together and help build good impressions of eachother.

It is not a singing competition per say. It is a song contest. Each participating country sends an original song to the competition. It is also now by far the biggest TV show in the world.

Eurovision has nothing to do with the EU, like the founding country, and the first winner, Switzerland, isn't in the EU. Eurovision Song Contest is way older than the EU, and has been going on since 1956. So there are a lot of non-EU-countries in Eurovision like for instance Norway, Ukraine and Serbia, just to name a few. It's the countries that's part of the EBU, the European Broadcasting Union, so it's those member countries that compete, if they wish. The exception is Australia, since their ties to the UK, and them being a long time fan country of Eurovision they got a special invitation to join, for just one year, but then that was extended.
