  Cap is indeed seeing Loki for the first time since the 2012 attack on New York, but he also travelled back to that year in Endgame, when Loki lost and was captured to be imprisoned in Asgard. But y’all gotta remember that, in the meantime, between the events of Infinity War and Endgame, he knows that Loki and most of the Asgardians are dead after Thanos attacked Thor’s ship post-Ragnarok on their way to Earth. Thor would have told him that, and hence he went on drinking a lot and playing Fortnite, isolating himself from everyone else.<br><br>The whole reason Tony and Steve went back to get the Pym Particles as well as the Tesseract was because they knew they had messed up and that Loki had escaped with it. So I’m positive Steve put two and two together and figured out that this must be the Loki who escaped. Because even if he had returned all the stones after the battle, he would still know that they had messed up the events of 2012 by letting Loki escape.
