Years ago, 6 or 7, I asked a few blacksmiths to make me a good sized skillet, 4 plates and 4 full sets of cutlery. Each one i asked turned me down, so I gave up for the time being. I want a set for out elk hunting, something that will never break, easy to care for and easy to clean and will last multiple lifetimes. I cant back country hunt anymore, so I wasn't really worried about the weight. Seeing this video has got me wanting to save up and find someone to make me a set again. I loved that box, I'll have to get my wood working friend to make me one.

I love watching the material upset seeing it completely change shape like that is the best part of smithing.

my moms grandfather worked smithing in New Hampshire Early 1900s. She moved back home to New Hampshire where she was born late in her life. She rented a room in a converted motel across from Eagle Lake. When I visited the rail lines running across from her rent were being disabled and reclaimed. The tonnage of steel left laying was astounding. Knowing that craftsman made good use of the relics made me wish I could grab a few tons to haul back to CT. My brother in law made figures of welded scrap steel he sold in flea markets in Manhattan. Turned a good profit in that marketplace.
