  I kinda understand the not naming of the diagnos(es). A diagnosis of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder in one individual results in the stereotypical “Must Put Everything In Its Place And Must Be Fanatically Pristinely Clean” set of behaviors. Another individual might have grotesque and horrifying thoughts of car accidents where they are the ones at fault if they try to drive a car on a major road, completely out of the blue and unprompted, but it happens like clockwork the moment the trigger appears. A third person could have a ridiculous desire to take a hair or two off of every person they meet, and they refuse to consider a person a friend or even acquaintance of theirs unless they relent and let them yank a hair off their head (at least one strand, and only once). A fourth person can simply have an internal monologue that attempts to force them to “be a good kid” by doing a set of rituals, and causes irritable bowel syndrome if it doesn’t get its way due to the anxiety caused by not doing the rituals. <br><br>The same diagnosis can manifest in each individual in a unique way. To truly diagnose a condition requires thoughtful work with licensed psychologists and psychiatrists who observe over a period of time to try and tease out what’s really going on under the unique set of behaviors and lived experiences of each individual. To truly understand the diagnosis, you HAVE to understand the person first, and only after truly knowing them for a while can you start to understand what’s actually going on and offer proper help. <br><br>So asking to not name the diagnos(es)? Absolutely the right call, and a perfectly reasonable request. And also… very human. Malukah is asking us to truly hear HER, not some arbitrary label for whatever psychiatric condition she may share with others who have the same label but completely different manifested behaviors from the same label. Understand the truth before you even try to pronounce judgment. Hear the person out, for a label is insufficient to truly understand THEM.

  Honestly, even listing her symptoms and the like, it is impossible for us to diagnose her. First thing I learned in my failed attempt at a psyche degree was that you can&apos;t just read the dsm-5 and go out to diagnose people.<br>You can&apos;t just list symptoms. You have to see how they show up. How they interact. How severe. And so many more factors.<br>And the process is still heavily flawed as personal bias can effect what a doctor will diagnose you as.<br><br>All this to say. I think you&apos;ve handled it really well.

  About, putting Meluka &quot;in a state that helps the world deal with Meluka,&quot; I feel the need to mention that if a disorder is diagnosed as &quot;high-functioning,&quot; it doesn&apos;t mean the affliction is easy to deal with, it means the <b>afflicted</b> is easy for <b>everyone else</b> to deal with. Intentionally or not, the label backhandedly puts the pressure of looking/acting &quot;normal&quot; fully back on to you.
