That is because he is himself not educated nor is he scientific in thinking. That's why we need educated people at the top.

A sharp intellect cuts like a knife. The opposite is fearful of inquiry and analysis.

Interesting, thought provoking and revealing interview. As Ramchandra Guha has said that Indira Gandhi had never interfered in Academic/or other Major Activities of the leading institute like IIT's etc I could recall that Dr.Dogra was the Director of IIT Delhi in 1969 -70's when I was doing My M.Tech and as I felt and could guess he had total freedom to run the Institute,I could not remember if any Govt.official or Minister ever come for any occasion.Every thing was left to the Institute. The Present Govt.can never support intellectuals in any way it is evident that they need Sycophants and the Tops of each institute might be succuming to that. This is what BJP wants.

Actually nowadays I have left reading papers which I used to do with great pleasure and curiosity, the Times of India was my favourite paper, without fail I either used to go to market and procure them fastidiously, or to get at home so I am unaware of these scholars like Orsini being deported from India inspite of having a valid passport, or other literary scholars or scientists having been handled so. True certainly Modi is amongst the PMs, India has seen, the most unread and most non- intellectual PM of all, what he has bought about is a plethora of uncritical thinking amongst the public.

This is Basically Anti-India Government. They are a bunch of Pseudo Nationalists pretending to be Deshbhakts. They are performative Patriots. The Vishwaguru is barely literate, his brain simply fails to grasp vast governance Calculus, Our India is on ruinous path.

I feel so sorry for the IIT ians for getting such a shock during their convocation from the guest speaker. Now I see a reason why they leave India.

The desperation in the words of Prof Guha is almost tangible and I don't think that it will be stretch to say that he represents the voices of many academicians in the country ❤ Thank you Mr Thapar for the interview
