You went from having NBA finals games on tape delay in 1980-81 to the 1984 finals being must see TV and Game 7 being the highest rated game ever. Magic, Larry and the Celtics-Lakers rivalry brought the NBA out of the wilderness. It never looked back.

I think it’s pretty cool that this past season, the Lakers , Celtics, Knicks, and 76ers were all playoff teams. I think the NBA is better when these teams are good.

I remember having a sinking feeling when Kevin McHale missed those two free throws at the end of Game 2 of the '84 Finals. If Gerald Henderson doesn't come up with that steal, the 1984 Finals might be remembered as a Lakers sweep.
