  Idk bout y’all, but that movie game box art render was always so badass to me. You could see the exaggerated swagger of a spongy grown ass man.

  I remember having that same dilemma once I entered High School. It&apos;s interesting how the shift went from, &quot;Oh, you watch cartoons?&quot; to &quot;Hey, have you recently watched show and show?&quot; within the past 15 years.

  I think you hit the nail on the head here. I never noticed it with Spongebob, but the North American box art for the Kirby games totally worked on me. It was probably the only thing that kept me secure enough to tell other people that I liked playing them. I justified that Kirby was “cool”, and other people just didn’t “get it” because they saw that Kirby was pink. I remember they released a bookmark at our library with Kirby on it. One side had the “cool” angry eyes Kirby, and the other side had a smiling Kirby with pink butterflies around him. I would always make sure the “girly” side was hidden when using it at school. I think it’s a testament to SpongeBob’s appeal that Nick never had to market something THAT differently in order to keep him relevant across demographics. Great vid!
