  My pet theory is that Slimer (the hotel apparition) isn&apos;t the ghost of any particular soul, but rather an elemental that was created through the gluttony and debauchery that had been enjoyed on the thirteenth floor for decades.<br><br>Slimer is, literally, the spirit of the party.

  Harold Ramis (Egon) isn&apos;t talked about nearly enough considering he&apos;s had a hand in the creation of classics like Caddyshack, Groundhog Day, Stripes, Ghostbusters, and some of the National Lampoon movies to name a few, as either a writer, actor and/or director. He&apos;s sorely missed.<br><br>The three main Ghostbusters actors are basically the who&apos;s who behind 80s and 90s comedy movies, but in this they all came together in front of the camera as well.

  William Atherton played jerks to perfection. Die Hard and Real Genius are some of the other great showcases of his snotty jerk persona.

  My grandfather was production designer for this film and my father was the art director. Thank you for sharing some love for this classic, and also for pointing out some of the design details like the hallway lighting and the street scene! It means a lot!

  I think the most underrated line in the movie is in the library when Ray says, “Listen, do you smell something?” 😆
