I like Charlie more each time I see him. Talking about muting, I saw an interview with Carlos Santana back in the 80s where he was asked how he played such beautiful notes. He replied it's what you do in the space between the notes. I didn't understand what he meant, he was always kind of spiritual and mystic. Years later someone asked him about the space between the notes where the magic happens. This time he explained it was about the mechanics of what your fingers and hands are doing between the notes, the muting, etc. and how you gradually adjust to make your notes and playing clean and eventually it becomes second nature.

Charlie is a nice player. Versatile, gotta love that.<br><br>His comments re: Duane and then on Derek. Umm, Duane laid down his entire catalogue (which was groundbreaking) before he was 25. I love Derek. Have seen him with ABB, DTB, Trucks-Tedeschi. Just excellent talent at ever turn; greatest slide player since Duane, bar none. But DT had DA to cop licks from/copy and took it from there. And still going!<br><br>But give the Devil his due. Duane Howard Allman single handedly invented a genre in about 30 months. His aggression, passion, articulation and exploration are truly remarkable.

Well, I really have a lot in common, especially with the pinky slide in the hybrid pick strategy. And I think we both are the most high-end Rick Richards fans there are out there, I only have a few pictures of people autographed in my band room and it's all Rick Richard stuff ..lol!

“What are we waiting for?” That’s why I’m mostly standard tuning when playing slide in my couple of bar bands. (FWIW, I use a wine bottle neck; the glass pill bottles tend to shatter and the socket, 13/16 for my finger, can get unwieldy…)<br><br>Meanwhile, the P90/amp combo is so good!
