  Good service means that the waiter is invisible when not needed and appears immediately as soon as the guest wants something, constantly being interrupted and being shooed away before you are finished is bad service

  I&apos;m from Spain, I can&apos;t remember a single time someone gave the note in the middle of a meal or even at the end. Normally, you suppose to rest for a while after eating, maybe a second beer or a coffee, chill... and then you ask for the bill.

  Fun in Europe isn&apos;t drinking till you fall over legless, at least not all the time, and certainly not by people over 30-35. We will go out as a bunch of friends, drink copious amounts, eat a good meal, and do it all over 2-3-4 hours, so the combination of food and time allows your body to take it. <br>There is of course certain times when many drink just to drink, like watching a footy, rugby match down the pub, but in general, outside the UK, drinking is coupled with dinner, lunch.
